Not an exciting day.

Today I had a minor surgery so there's not much to say about today, surgery went well and I see another surgeon next week about my hernia. Hopefully that'll be as quick and easy as well.

Thanks to everyone for their comments, we're new to this and didn't see them till today.

Going to check on the garden in a few and water, it's taking some getting used to the way the squash, zucchini and tomatoes wilt during the day and come back in the evening, we just transplanted them Friday and Saturday so we hope as they get established it lessens.

Yesterday we evicted the House Sparrow but since we've gotten back from the hospital we've already seen him bringing new nest material in.  I think we'll continue to try to evict him since it's the blue birds we're after.  We've got three birdhouses perched on the fence and the other two are unoccupied so far.  There's dove like crazy under the feeder, Frank the puppy is amused by chasing them off every once and awhile.  I mind but I do like the sounds they make as they fly off.

We also get tons of red winged black birds, house finches and a variety of other species of finch and sparrow.  A grackle here and there and we've had one starling.  We've been using Merlin Bird by Cornell Ornithology on my Iphone to id them mostly.  We hope to attract some more song birds, especially some pretty ones.  It's been slow going to get humming birds to our feeder, Kara's aunt sent her a Bee Balm and hopefully that'll help attract some more and we'll be planting some flowers soon.

I've also been toying with the idea of starting a bee hive out back near the fence for us.  They're pretty important little creatures and I like honey.;) not sure if we'll try it this year but it's near the front of my mind.  We've also been discussing a worm composter, we compost already but it's hard to keep it moist here and the break down is pretty slow, worms should speed up the process a lot and we can do it right in the kitchen, and get some use able compost fairly quickly. I think it's moisture retention will be a great help as the temperature keeps climbing and the drought gets worse.

On a firearms related note, I may try to get the last few pieces to swap my .300 AAC blackout barrel in but i'm debating since the NCSTAR scope on my Mosin Nagant failed early this month.  It has a lifetime warranty but I need to contact them and get the return authorization.  I'd also like to get the mosin painted this month and I think i've settled on the pattern it'll need to wait for the new scope.  I've done a bit of polishing the bolt and trigger parts and it is far smother and the trigger is better but it could be better yet. I've been thinking about swapping in a timney trigger and being done with that but with so many gun projects it's hard to decide what to do next tho.

I was having some accuracy issues with my Marlin 1895G the last time i shot it and I may see if I can get those sorted out.  If you've never shot a guide gun before it's a ton of fun, not for the recoil sensitive with hot loads but most of my shooting with it is reduced loads with unique powder and they're tons of fun. It is in need of some upgrades, I'd like a big loop lever for it so it doesn't beat my hand up and maybe a sight upgrade to ghost ring style, i perfer them over the buckhorn sights it came with.

Well I think thats enough for today, thanks to the vicodan I could probably sit here and ramble all day!
